You may circulate a petition either supporting or opposing a proposal which will be given to the Commission or City Council. There are not a set number of signatures that must be collected on a petition to disapprove a proposed rezoning or other request. A petition will not automatically disapprove a request no matter how many signatures appear on it. The City Council is the final authority on all such decisions. Petitions are used to inform the commission or council of the magnitude of the support or opposition to a request.
