The Zoning Board of Adjustments shall consist of five regular members and four alternates appointed by the City Council and serve two-year terms. The Board of Adjustment exercises the following authority:
(1) Hears and decides any appeals that allege error in an order, requirement, decision, or determination made by the Administrator.
(2) Hears and decides special exceptions and variances.
Purpose: (For the City’s Central Business District) Reviews major permits and issues, issues with condition, or denies major site development permits referred by the Building Official; renders advice and guidance upon request of the property owner or occupant of any structure eligible for a major site development permit; and reviews text amendments to the Site Development Code. Membership: Composed of five members serving two-year terms, with a majority of the members from design-related fields such as architecture, landscape architecture, urban planning, land development or construction, and the remaining members appointed on an at-large basis. Two-years residency is required.
