Community Gardens
Green by Choice!
Views of Community Gardens Site

The City of Pflugerville has a history of being a community with gardens and crops flourishing throughout the area.  What better way to foster this tradition than Community Garden Spaces!  Saturday, March 21 marked the grand opening of Pecan Street Gardens located next to the baseball fields in North East Metro Park (2703 East Pecan Street.)

Community gardening offers opportunities to meet staff and neighbors knowledgeable on plants, gardening, and other organic principles while participating in hands-on planting and nurturing of their own plot in the community gardens.

Grab your garden tools and plant seedlings and come on out to the Gardens!

Applications and release forms for the Pecan Street Community Gardens are available online or may be picked up at the Pflugerville Recreation Center.  When a gardener turns in their application and pays their plot fee, Parks and Recreation staff will assign a plot number and provide a copy of the community garden rules.

The Gardens are a perfect place to blend old and young...older ways and new technology, tried and true new plantings and the latest in organic gardening practices.  Gardeners are encouraged to use their creativity with plant selection to create an attractive, aesthetic garden with a bountiful harvest.  Gardeners are responsible for weeding their garden and paths adjacent to their plots on a regular basis. Specific attention must be paid to Bermuda and encroaching field grasses.  Community Gardeners are encouraged to attend the Community Garden Work day to be held each growing season.  Watch the Community Garden Calendar for specific dates and events!

Garden plots are offered in three sizes:

20’ x 20’  -  Full Plot (20’ x2 0’)------------------Full Year ($50)-----------Half Year ($25)

10’ x 10’  -  Half Plot (10’x10’)------------------Full Year ($25)-----------Half Year ($12.50)

2’ x 20"    -  Accessible Plot (2’x20’)---------Full Year ($25)-----------Half Year ($12.50)

>  Students (18 and under) and Seniors (55 and over) are one half of the above listed prices.

>  The Pecan Street Community Gardens are available to City of Pflugerville
