Staff has worked diligently to create a more defined baseline to allow for a more localized population estimate. Based on research, a population estimate of 46,941 was determined; a slight decrease in the estimated 2009 population of 47,417. An estimated January 2010 population for the City of Pflugerville is 50,850. By creating a resolution to declare 50,000, the City's ETJ will expand from the current 2 miles to 3½miles. Additional responsibilities and opportunities will become available to the City once the Census concurs with the 50,000 population threshold.
